How to Store Your Biltong

Biltong keeps well when it is treated properly. Use this guide to keep every pack at its best.

Unopened packs

Keep the biltong frozen in its original sealed vacuum bag. It will keep for up to three weeks this way.

When you open it

Remove the biltong from the vacuum bag, loosen the pieces and leave them in a container with the lid off for 10 to 15 minutes. This lets the biltong air after vacuum packing.

After opening

Transfer it to an airtight container, keep it in the fridge and eat it within three to four days.

Keeping it longer

Store the airtight container in the freezer. Bring the biltong back to room temperature before eating it.
